Things Person I Love Thursday

  • My Dad. He’s a truly awesome individual and I couldn’t ask for a better father. I know two sides to him: the strict military dad I grew up with as a kid and the very relaxed retired man that I know now. I wouldn’t trade either.

3003852208 66be894038 Things Person I Love ThursdayHe has tattoos. He drives a motorcycle. He makes the best cheese grits in the world. He can quote scripture and cuss in three different languages. He listens to Queen and Wilco. He calls young boys punks. He loves to dance. He will wake you up at 6am and not tell you where you’re going or what you’re going to do. He keeps my baby teeth next to his war medals. He thinks baseball is the only sport worth watching. He will talk to anyone. He makes a lot of noise when he drinks coffee. He talks to God when he mows the lawn. He loves dogs and babies. He met me when I was six months old and twenty years later told me I was the reason he wanted to marry my mom.

And I get to see him TOMORROW! See you guys in a little over a week.

Makeover Megan

Did you ever watch that movie, She’s Outta Control? If you haven’t, you should. I mean, it has Tony Frickin’ Danza in it. What’s not to love?

Anyway, I loved it because, just like how I will spend an entire Sunday watching a “What Not to Wear” marathon, I love a good make-over. There’s something so exciting about making something old new again. Fresh starts, new beginnings, Tony Danza, yadda yadda. You get it.

So I was floored when I saw this outfit on a flickr outfit pool. A peak of a slip under a skirt, how new and exciting and daring! Okay, not really, but I thought it was a cool idea. And then Jessica of What I Wore had the great idea to dye crocheted doillies and incorporate them into her spring wardrobe. Genius!

Well, with their powers combined, I bring you this creation:

3381429465 f436b5be6c Makeover Megan I took a long, drabby dress (used mainly for funerals) and hemmed it for a more flirty look. Then I found an old lace bedskirt at Goodwill and snipped enough off to make a hem. I dyed it yellow and voila – instant awesome dress. Who’s the boss now, Tony?

Oh, and for those creative adventurous readers, I have some (undyed) lace left if you want me to mail you some to make your own. Just holla atcha gurl for the hookup.
