Short & Sweet

I almost forgot that during the twenty minutes it wasn’t raining last weekend I managed to get out of the house and into a Goodwill. Like a hurricane is going to stop me from shopping. Pffft.

Remember when I made my gaudy bathroom even more awesome?

Well I found a soapdish to rival that bathroom painting. For fifty cents. Score.

And remember how excited I am about the return of Gossip Girl and their awesome wardrobe? Well I found a slew of ribbons that any Upper East Side schoolgirl would covet.

I like to imagine that some poor old grandma lovingly made these for her granddaughter, only that granddaughter stood to close to the young teacher of schoolgirl fantasy and thusly ended up in my grateful hands.

When I won’t be wearing them in my hair with kneesocks and pleated skirts, I think they will be great additions to purses, button ups, and belts. So many possibilities!

This is just a quick post, so I’ll leave you with a bad music video because it’s Friday and I forgot I was doing that for awhile.

Cardi Love

Yes, I’m alive and no, I don’t have time for this. Sigh.

The fabulous Kimberly over at Fab Finds Under $50 sent me the most awesome thrift find in the mail this week:

I also received the latest J Crew catalog in the same mail day and I decided to use its pages for some inspiration:

Okay, so I don’t have the amazing hair to go with it, but it works. I LOVE a skinny belt paired with a cardigan.

And let me just say, I am so proud of my readers who have found inspiration here to visit their local thrift/vintage stores. I think it’s even more rewarding when you find something in those places because usually they have become one-of-a-kind items. And I especially love when said readers send me their finds. :P

So if you haven’t been to your local Goodwill lately, go! They have really cleaned up over the years and a lot of Targets have begun to send their overstocked, end-of-season clothes to them. And if you’re still feel sketchy, check out the vintage stores in your area. Supporting local businesses makes you feel good and it’s great for the economy!

Okay, stepping off my soapbox now.
