Call Me

Now I’m not one to toot my own horn, but it’s been said that my abilities to hook a man are nothing short of impressive. Okay, so maybe that’s never been said, but I get plenty of complaints from girlfriends when we’re out because some guy across the bar has bought me a drink.

And just so you know, when you’re as tall and as loud as me, you’re gonna get noticed. I don’t seek out this attention, it just happens (because I’m fabulous like that, dahling). That’s also never been said.
Anyway, there was that glorious year during which I was actively looking for attention of the male species and those who knew me also knew that I was awesome at it. That has actually been said. Really. And while I went through dates more often that Lindsey Lohan went through drug dealers, I can’t stress enough that I wasn’t upkeeping anything more than I normally upkeep.

I have quite a few girlfriends and readers out there who are currently trying to date and I have been asked for my secret many times. Truth is, there is no secret. Being my tall, loud self is usually enough. I will admit that most dates I went on was because I was the one who initiated it, and I think that’s probably the key to getting what you want. I don’t mean you have to walk up to some guy after three gin and tonics and throw your boobs in his face to get him to buy you a dinner (though that method has been tested and approved. It’s just not the classiest choice). I think what many girls have a problem with is showing a guy you’re interested in him, even if it’s from across the room. Trust me, he does not notice your sexy eye makeup and how you’re batting those lashes at him.

I’ve suggested it to a few friends and I’ll suggest it to you: calling cards. I find them to be so much easier – and a lot less awkward – than digging around in the bottom of your purse, searching for your phone to add his number into your contacts. And then what do you put, “Tall Guy Red Shirt Stella Drink?” That may or may not have happened to me before.
Calling cards are an easy and nonthreatening way to give a guy a way to contact you again at a much sober time. It also gives him the option to either call or email you, which I’ve found to be the choice of most of my dates. It just so happens that most men I date are English majors, but y’know, to each their own.

Sesame Letterpress and Moontree Letterpress teamed up to create Brooklyn Social Cards, a great (and fairly inexpensive) company that offers a variety of calling cards! The designs are simple and yet elegant, which is what you should be advertising yourself as. Let them find out you’re crazy after dinner.
